This
elegant Hinge, made in November 2001, was one of Davis' breakthrough
Hinge Series works, and gave the unusual series its name. it
was the very first to inform the artist of the push-pull "folding"
and "bending" intrinsic to the entire series. Its simplicity
is deceptive: the experience the painting gives is actually one of subtle
movement and complexity.
