Norton
and Jennifer Jones Simon acquired this painting shortly after Norton
Simon took over the old Pasadena Museum of Modern Art in 1975 and relegated
its extensive modern collection to the basement. Wyoming Slab
(the first major painting from Davis' Snapline Series) was in storage
there for nearly twenty years, until it was included in an exhibition
titled radical past: art & music in pasadena, 1960 - 1974.
This snapshot is from the opening in February 1999.
