This
year in an impressive debut in New York, Gregory Bogin shows
new abstract paintings and sculpture that signal a return to
beauty, craftsmanship and quality. His new abstract paintings
and sculpture reflect courage and independence as well as superb
technical know-how and skill. His work demonstrates a masterful
handling of surface and materials and an understanding of geometric
art that brings to mind the classic period of American hard-edge
painting and primary structure sculpture of the early 1960s.
During 2000-2001 Gregory Bogin had two one-man exhibitions in
New York City of his new hard-edge paintings and new sculpture.
The work sends a hopeful and significant signal that sincerity,
knowledge and hard work are still relevant to young artists.
Born in 1965 and raised in New York City, Gregory Bogin has
a deep understanding of the art world from an insiders point
of view. His experience of the New York galleries and museums
over a twenty year period as well as his travels through Europe
and elsewhere are expressed in his work. It remains to be seen
how much Gregory Bogin can accomplish as an artist but so far
hes doing great.
