There is a tension in the art of Ronald Davis between the finite and the infinite, between what can be circumscribed and that which eludes circumscription, between realization and void. Where is the borderline between the absolute and the relative, between the concrete and the abstracted?

In this light, we asked a theoretical physicist to reflect on the art of Ronald Davis and to consider the larger issue of the common wellspring of human imagination before it branches off to become realized in the arts or the sciences.
