The
entire site was down because I was late in paying my ICAMM domain-name
fee to Network Solutions. It was a big hassel getting it back
up.
Sorry if you missed me. I have been supporting abstract-art.com out
of my own pocket for over 4 years now. (no banners or popups)
Are
you willing to help? Do you value the site? I am thinking of just
taking it down. Support ronhondo@newmex.com
and a continued abstract-art.com by sending a donation or by buying
his prints or his
paintings.
This
site has been up and running since December 1996. Since that time
it has grown until it now contains nearly 600 individual webpages,
thousands of images, and uncounted hyperlinks. It is a labor of
love for me, and actually costs me cash to keep it going. If you
have any suggestions about the site itself, let me know. If you
have a greed for speed, then this is not a site for you. I have
chosen to display art works at a scale and resolution that is more
like an art book. If you are a Lyrical Abstractionist or Abstract
Illusionist and have something to add to this site e-mail me and
I will add it.
The
site features artists Ronald Davis,
Ronnie Landfield,
Wendy Lehman, Jim Wrinkle,
and Peter Reginato (since we are paying
for it). It will continue to spotlight many abstract artists who
were pivotal in the evolution of important, if neglected, late
20th Century Art, as well as newcomers to the fray.

This
site is dedicated to a retrospective (retroactive) view of Lyrical
Abstraction and Abstract Illusionism,
which loosely groups together a number of painters who emerged
in the late sixties with much fanfare, but since then seem to have
"fallen through a crack" in the art
world fashion salons.
It
is important now, more than ever, to take a look at the paintings
labeled as Lyrical Abstraction
and Abstract Illusionism. These
paintings connect quickly and immediately to the viewer. The need
for positive emotion in the world has never been greater than today.
Positive emotional force emanates from this collection of paintings
and can be absorbed directly by the receptive viewer capable of
suspending disbelief. These artists have engaged in a continuing
personal spiritual search, the impact of which may be experienced
in their paintings.
This
site now features artists Ronald Davis,
Ronnie Landfield,
Jim Wrinkle,
and Peter Reginato. It could and hopes
to spotlight as many as fifty more abstract artists who were pivotal
in the evolution of important, if neglected, late 20th Century
Art. The thoughtful viewer observes in this art a plethora of visual
information and an articulated language of space, color, composition,
and painterliness. These paintings create a dialogue resonating
with meaning and power which, if nothing else, delve into and illuminate
the mysteries of late Twentieth-Century thought, abstraction, and
spirit.
